Entry Requirements
Do you need a visa to visit Kenya? If your country is not among the list of exempted countries, then yes. Usually, all citizens from foreign countries need a visa to enter Kenya, except those from exempted countries, namely:- Bahamas, Tuvalu, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, Uganda, Botswana, Tonga,Brunei,Vanuatu, Burundi ,Tanzania,Cyprus, Zambia, Daressalam, Zimbabwe,Dominica,Swaziland, Ethiopia, South Africa (For a less than thirty days stay).Fiji Salomon Islands, Gambia, Singapore, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Grenada, Seychelles ,Jamaica, San Marino, Kiribati ,Samoa, Nauru, Lesotho, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Malawi,St Lucia, Namibia, Malaysia (For a less than thirty days stay) St Kitts & Nevis Maldives, Russian Federation, Mauritius, Papua New Guinea.
However, nationals from the following countries have to apply for the visas from the Director of Immigration Services:- Yemen, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Syria, Azerbaijan, Somalia, Cameroon, Senegal, Eritrea, Palestine, Iraq, Mali, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea – Korea North, Libya ,Kosovo & Lebanon.

There are three types of e-visas for people travelling to Kenya on a temporary basis. They are:-
- Single entry visa- This visa is specially meant for people whose nationalities require that they have a visa before entering Kenya for medical, tourism, or business-related matters.
- Transit visa- The transit visa is for people connecting through Kenya to other destinations for a period less than or at most, seventy-two hours. However, those using connecting flights without leaving the airport do not need to apply for a transit visa.
- Courtesy visa- A courtesy visa is issued free of charge, and it is for those diplomatic, official and service passport holders on official duties. It is also meant for the same category of persons transiting through Kenya to a third country on official duty or for business.A courtesy visa is also issued to dignitaries and government officials on official duty but holding ordinary passports. Usually, the processing time for an e-visa is two business days.
